The Tonopah Historical Mining Park of over 100 acres offers a unique look into Tonopah's history. HISTORY

In Memory of the Miners
of Central Nevada
In 1900, a wayward burro led Jim Butler, a rancher and prospector, to an outcropping that eventually produced $150 million in rich silver ore. A city grew from the desert floor, which rivaled the streets of San Francisco. The silver load would exceed $1.2 billion by today's standard prices and those riches brought political power to the rough central Nevada desert. During 1905, the Nye County seat was moved from Belmont to Tonopah where it remains to this day. Tonopah tells the story of the last great rush to settle the wild American frontier. Unlike any other place on earth, the Sunsets, Silver and Midnight Stars paint a mystical backdrop for a unique history lesson of Nevada's Queen of the Silver Camps.
