Tonopah Historic Mining Park
Located on the site of the original mining claims that
made Tonopah 'Queen of the Silver Camps' is the Tonopah Historic Mining Park,
named 'Best Museum in Rural Nevada' for 4 consecutive years. This 100-acre
plus park covers portions of four of the major mining companies. Here the
history of mining is preserved. Take a self-guided tour and be transported
back into the boom days. Take the Burro Tunnel and you'll find yourself
looking down into a 500' deep stope. See the equipment that the miners of
old used to extract and process their ore: an ore sorting "grizzly", a
five-stamp mill, an ore crusher, a roller mill, and more. Visit the exhibits
and displays around the park and enjoy Nevada's great history. Come during
Jim Butler Days (Memorial Day weekend) and be a part of the Nevada State
Mining Championships.
