Employment in Nye County is varied. The major sources of employment are service industries. Professional and business services account for most of industry; while Government and Educational services account for a large percentage of employment. Construction has slowed down along with the influx of population to the Pahrump area in 2007.

Desert View Medical Center is expected to attract more health care services to Nye County. And the new Federal Detention Center, to be built in Pahrump, will attract around 200+ jobs.
